Getting Started
Fortress limits our client base to a select group
of investment fund managers with a record of superior historical
performance, or whose principals have outstanding records of prior
accomplishment in relevant product areas. Based upon investor demand,
we seek out general partners with investment strategies within each
asset class that can be readily differentiated. Examples of differentiation
include an edge in deal sourcing, meaningful industry expertise,
or other unique abilities to add value to their portfolio investments.
Prior to representing a general partner, we conduct
rigorous due diligence of the manager's investment strategy, investment
discipline, operations, investment capacity, personnel backgrounds,
and risk management practices. Analytical and quantitative reviews
are used to evaluate managers to determine competitive advantages
versus peer groups as well as their correlation to industry benchmarks.
The experience, talent, and integrity of the investment management
team are critical elements to our evaluation.
We operate in a seamless relationship with our
clients to achieve their short-term and long-term business development
objectives. Structuring each engagement with a mutual alignment
of interests is crucial to the client relationships, and we will
not consider new assignments which may create conflicts of interest
with any active client projects. Every assignment is pursued until
its successful completion, regardless of the effort and time required.
